in Fairfield did their part to help feed the hungry by joining one of several Walks Against Hunger organized this month in Bridgeport, New Haven and Norwich by the Connecticut Food Bank. The May 19 walk took participants around Bridgeport’s scenic Seaside Park. Betty Feldman, chairman of the synagogue’s Social Action Committee and leader of the synagogue’s delegation, noted that every dollar raised by the Connecticut Food Bank provides three meals to someone in need and a mere $7 contribution feeds a person for a week.

The Walk Against Hunger is Foodshare’s biggest charity event and is the largest fundraising event of its kind in Connecticut. The walk will be held on Saturday, May 5th at Dunkin’ Donuts Park, home to the Hartford Yard Goats. A portion of the funds raised by Team PNT will be given to Hands on Hartford, a local organization providing respectful, comprehensive services to disadvantaged Hartford residents.

Join the United Labor Agency at the 35th Annual Foodshare Walk Against Hunger on Saturday, May 5th at Dunkin’ Donuts Park - home of the Hartford Yard Goats. The Foodshare Walk Against Hunger is not only their largest fundraiser, but the largest anti-hunger event of its kind in Connecticut. Registration opens at 8:30 am and the Walk steps off at 10 AM.

The funds also support long-term efforts to increase access to healthy food and address the underlying issues that contribute to hunger. Last year alone we were able to provide enough food for nearly 12 million meals to help our friends and neighbors in Greater Hartford. More than 1/3 of that food was fresh produce - providing healthy options for the people we serve. In supporting the Foodshare Walk Against Hunger, you will help us continue this important work.

Connecticut Food Bank / Foodshare Walk Against Hunger

Connecticut Food Bank / Foodshare Walk Against Hunger is returning, stepping off at 10:00 AM both virtually and at Dunkin' Donuts Park — home of the Hartford Yard Goats. We are excited for our first statewide Walk as a combined organization, rallying the community to bring awareness to the issue of food insecurity in Connecticut. Funds raised from the Walk help support not only Connecticut Food Bank / Foodshare but the partner agencies that help us serve the estimated 545,000 people in Connecticut who struggle with hunger, including 164,000 children.

We are excited to welcome back Renee DiNino from The River 105.9 and Scot Haney from WFSB as our emcees. There will be plenty of entertainment on Walk day, and the event is FREE to the public; no registration fee!

Pre-registration will open in the summer and check-in will begin at 8:00 AM on Walk Day. Stay tuned to learn more. We look forward to our first combined statewide event as we work together to knock hunger out of the park!.
