American express delta credit card sign in -
Travel with Grant Advertiser Disclosure
Good afternoon everyone, I hope you had a great weekend. 2 months ago, I applied for the American Express Gold Delta SkyMiles Business Credit Card. At the time, the sign up bonus was for 60,000 Delta SkyMiles after spending $3,000 in 3 months. In the first month, I spent $1,580 and in the second month, I spent $1,425, for a total of $3,005. I expected to get the sign up bonus after the second credit card statement closed, but to my surprise, the sign up bonus was not shown on the credit card statement. I did some digging and found out that the sign up bonus did post to my Delta account, but it was not shown on my credit card statement. I thought that was really strange, so I wanted to share that in a blog post. Here is the order of events…
On November 16, my first credit card statement closed and I received 1,580 Delta SkyMiles after spending $1,580 on my credit card.
2 days later, on November 18, I received the 1,580 Delta SkyMiles in my Delta account.
Fast forward a month to December 17, my second credit card statement closed and I received 1,444 Delta SkyMiles after spending $1,425 (I received 19 bonus Delta SkyMiles on a restaurant purchase).
The next day on December 18, I received the 1,444 Delta SkyMiles in my Delta account. As you can see, as of December 18, I did not receive the 60,000 Delta SkyMiles sign up bonus. I started to worry that some of my purchases didn’t count toward the $3,000 minimum spending requirement.
Thankfully, on the very next day on December 19, the 60,000 Delta SkyMiles posted to my Delta account. I have no idea why the Delta SkyMiles posted on a different date or why they were not shown on my second credit card statement – the whole process just seemed a little strange.
Long story short, if you complete your minimum spending requirement and do not see your sign up bonus on your credit card statement, don’t worry. Give it a few days and check your Delta account. Hopefully you will see the Delta SkyMiles there a few days after your statement closed. If you have any questions about receiving the sign up bonus, please leave a comment below. Have a great day everyone.
P.S. if you haven’t read this post already, I highly recommend reading My Best Practices for New Credit Cards and Sign Up Bonuses.

So happy I came back to Amex!
Recently I had a dispute with Capital One my main credit card company when I wanted to pay off my statement balance. I had called them and made payment of the amount they gave me but then received in the mail a bill for some ridiculously small amount that I thought surely was in error so I called but surprisingly they argued and said that I indeed owed the amount and that I must have misunderstood. I’m pretty sure I had not since it was I who called them with the intent of paying off the statement amount. So it was then that I decided if $0.72 was that important to them I was going to vote with my $ and discontinue Capital One. That day I paid them, canceled my account, and cut up my card. However that meant I then needed another primary credit card. I have been an Amex member for a long time but worried that the old style way Amex used to do thing’s might not be as flexible as I needed but decided to give it a go. I can’t tell you how happy I am that I made that decision! Amex has made some amazing changes the last few years and the app is just awesome. The plan- it feature for payment is simply brilliant! I just wanted to let you know that I am so happy I decided to go back to Amex and I’m confident I won’t have to worry about having to move to another credit company again !! Thank you so much!
Application of Payments on Account
The AMEX app and the AMEX web site are easy to use, quick, easily accessible and promptly and accurately reflect all purchase activity. Very worthwhile. Which makes it particularly exasperating when payments are not applied to the account promptly. I make payments via automated debit to my bank account, either scheduled via AutoPay or on a one-off basis. The payments are invariably charged to my bank account well before they are credited to my AMEX account. At the end of the billing cycle, I sometimes (alternate months) like the account balance reported to the credit reporting agencies to be zero. When there have been charges to the account, and I pay on the last or second last day of the cycle, the payment does not get reflected sometimes for 2 days, which leaves an account balance over the end of the billing cycle. That really annoys me. And it is quite odd, since many times charges are applied to the account before I even get to the car after leaving the store.
Maybe you can fix this - it’s ridiculous.
Great App, but don’t stop there.
A few things I could mention that could bring this app to 5 stars - I would integrate apples current FaceID update to allow for pin entry when it detects a mask. Currently, the app will simply say that “faceID is not detected” it’s something small that can make a huge difference because I’d rather not take off my mask in stores when I want to get into my app, and I’m sure I speak for many people when I say entering and remembering passwords are tedious.
Additionally, I would update your app to allow for dispute submissions, status and resolution directly on the app instead of having to clog up your chat. It’s available on your website, just port it over to the app.
Finally, I would put something to allow for better reward tracking and pending rewards on the app itself instead of having to go on your website.
Additionally, I know this is probably more a hit on Delta and not American Express, but you do have a partnership with their Credit Cards so, have better communication with them and their/your cards. It gets annoying when I have to flip flop between apps and websites to see and track my rewards.
Finally you could have a kind of Minimum balance calculator for the Pay it Plan it. Sometimes I’m scared to use Plan it because Im scared my next months minimum due will go from 35 to 350. ...which is fine, id just appreciate the heads up when/if it happens.

But the cards themselves have been around for years – a SkyMiles card is a fixture in many Delta flyers’ wallets, thanks to free baggage and other benefits. So what if you’ve already got a Delta Amex Card – 0r had one in the past? Can you still get one of these big bonuses? How do you know if you’re eligible?
The answer? It depends … but you may still be able to snag one of these bonuses. We’ll break down everything you need to know.

American Express Welcome Bonus Eligibility Rules
Every bank sets its own rules and restrictions around credit card applications.
For example, Chase has the dreaded 5/24 rule, and no rule is stricter. It bars you from getting approved for a new Chase credit card if you’ve opened five or more cards in a 24 month period from any bank – not just Chase.
American Express doesn’t have that same rule, so you don’t need to worry about it when it comes to Delta’s co-branded credit cards. But that doesn’t mean it’s a free-for-all to get any Amex card you want. Here’s a snippet from the terms of Amex’s card applications:
“Welcome offer not available to applicants who have or have had this or previous versions of this Card. We may also consider the number of American Express Cards you have opened and closed as well as other factors in making a decision on your welcome offer eligibility.”
Essentially that means if you have had a specific American Express card in the past, you will not be eligible to earn the bonus on that same card. Generally speaking, this Amex restriction will follow you for about seven years after you close a card. At that point, data points suggest that Amex allows you to apply for that card again – and be eligible to earn the welcome offer bonus, too.
But if Amex determines you have a pattern of opening credit cards to earn a bonus only to close the card immediately afterward, it could make you ineligible to earn a welcome bonus on a new card. So while Amex isn’t looking at your credit card history with other banks, they will factor in which Amex cards you have had previously, and what you have done with the Amex cards you already have.… regardless of whether or not you earned the welcome offer bonus on them.
So what does this all mean for if you’re deciding to open another new Delta card?
Can I Get A Delta Credit Card if I Already Have One?
Let’s say you currently have the Delta SkyMiles® Gold American Express Card. If you have never had the Platinum version, based on the eligibility rules set forth by American Express, you are absolutely eligible to open theDelta SkyMiles® Platinum American Express Card and earn the full welcome bonus offer.
The same principle holds true for any of the four Delta SkyMiles credit cards. American Express views each Delta credit card as a different card product. So long as you haven’t held that particular card, that means you’re eligible to earn the bonus on all of them. and thus you are eligible to eventually earn the bonus on all of them.
If you’ve had that exact Delta SkyMiles card in the past, you’ll likely need to wait seven years (or longer) since you closed it to be eligible again. But if you haven’t yet had it, you should be eligible – assuming you meet all of the other eligibility requirements, of course.
Should I Upgrade My Existing Delta Credit Card?
The short answer? It’s possible, but you probably shouldn’t.
With welcome offers of up to 50,000 SkyMiles on the table, Delta and American Express are clearly looking to get new cardholders in the door. But they’re also shelling existing cardholders with offers to upgrade to a higher-tier card, too.
Should you take them up on an offer? It’s almost always a bad idea. Taking that upgrade will make you ineligible for earning an even bigger welcome bonus offer on the same card later on.
Let’s say you’ve got the Delta Gold SkyMiles American Express Card and get an offer via email to upgrade that card to the Delta Platinum SkyMiles American Express Card. More often than not, these upgrade offers pale in comparison to the elevated bonuses we often see on the suite of co-branded Delta credit cards.
And because of the way Amex’s application rules work, even if you have the Delta Gold Card, you would still be eligible to apply outright Delta Platinum card and earn the full welcome offer bonus – as long as you haven’t earned the bonus on that card previously.
Upgrade instead, and you won’t be able to get a big welcome bonus on that card in the future. So while Amex will often present you with an offer to upgrade to a more superior card, that offer will almost never be as good as the offer to apply for the card as a new account.
That said, Amex and Delta have started to turn this on its head recently with some very strong upgrade offers – stronger than we’ve ever seen, in fact.

Be Aware of the Amex Welcome Offer Pop-Up
These rules may all sound confusing. But the bottom line is that if you think you might be eligible, the best thing to do is try and apply.
That’s because American Express implemented a tool a few years ago that stops you from submitting an application if you are not eligible for the bonus.
All you need to do is fill out the application as you normally would and click “Agree and Submit Application.” After a few seconds, if you are not actually eligible to earn the bonus on the card you are applying for, American Express will let you know with a pop-up like the one below.
Better yet, they will give you the chance to cancel your application before your credit is pulled and the application is processed. If you don’t receive the pop-up, you should be good to go and eligible to receive the welcome offer bonus on whatever card you are applying for.
So if you question whether you’re eligible to earn the bonus on any of the Delta cards (or any American Express card, for that matter), this is an easy way to find out.
Even if you have had one of the Delta SkyMiles cards in the past, there is a very good chance you are still eligible to earn the bonus on a different version – or even the same version you once had if it was some time ago. Just be aware of the restrictions Amex has in place.
If all else fails, you can test the waters and see if you get the pop-up letting you know you are not eligible to earn the welcome offer bonus.
