Boost Mobile is offering a way to lower your cell phone bill to just Boost Mobile offers a number of affordable prepaid plans with both. Want to keep your number when you switch to Sprint? Simply port it over. It's a seamless transition—we'll show you how.

Boost mobile account change phone number -

T-Mobile is introducing a new prepaid promotion with incentives for customers on other prepaid MVNOs to switch to Metro by T-Mobile, including waiving switching fees, a discount on an unlimited plan with 5G, and a trade-in offer for a new 5G phone. In other words, it’s doing exactly what it told regulators it wouldn’t do when it acquired Sprint a year ago.

The US wireless market is lousy with 5G phone trade-in offers and 5G plan upgrades these days, but this one stands out in its direct pitch to lure Boost Mobile customers to T-Mobile’s prepaid brand — the same customers it was ordered to sell to Dish network with the intention of setting the company up as a fourth wireless carrier to replace Sprint. It’s also what Dish warned might be coming in a plea to the Federal Communications Commission earlier this year.

The promotion also appears to specifically appeal to Boost customers on Sprint’s old CDMA network — a network T-Mobile owns and operates and announced it would be shutting down on an unusually aggressive timeline. This leaves many Boost customers in need of a device upgrade by January 1st, 2022, which T-Mobile is happily offering to facilitate if they switch to Metro:

“Get half off your unlimited line when you switch from Boost or Cricket by bringing your phone number to Metro by T-Mobile and trading in ANY working device for a limited time. Yes, any — even that old flip phone!”

The deal provides customers who switch and trade in a phone with a two-year discounted $25-per-month price on an unlimited plan with 5G.

T-Mobile’s track record of keeping its Sprint merger promises is shaky at best. It has failed to create jobs it said it would, and while it has technically fulfilled its requirements to Dish Network, like selling Boost and providing wholesale network service, it hasn’t exactly been helpful either. This new promotion is perhaps its most obvious play yet to win back Boost customers — the very customers Dish will need to retain if it’s going to becoming a full-fledged carrier.

Boost Mobile, in an effort to pull customers away from other wireless carriers, today announced a limited-time promotion. Effective immediately, Boost is offering discounted rate plans and free phones to subscribers who port their number from competing service providers.

The promotion underscores a growing interest in and demand for prepaid wireless providers, which are often more affordable and don't require credit checks. The Boost deal is similar to one that its parent company, Sprint, has offered for a few months.

According to Boost, customers who port their phone number from AT&T, T-Mobile, or Verizon can save up to 50 percent when compared to competitors' plans. Boost Mobile provides 10GB of high-speed data per line, per month starting at $60 for two lines. A three line plan runs $85 per month; four lines is $100 per month.

In addition to the promotional rate, Boost will give new customers up to four free phones when porting in and activating on a family plan. Subscribers can choose from the Alcatel OneTouch Elevate, Motorola Moto E, LG Tribute, LG Tribute 2, and ZTE Speed. Alternatively, Boost will discount other models by $50 each.

Both the discounted plan and free phone promos will run until April 5.

How Do I Change My Boost Mobile Phone Number Online?

If you want to change your Boost mobile phone number, you need to visit their help or support website, which can be found by going to 'support.boostmobile.com' or typing 'Boost mobile support' into a search engine. Boost is a mobile phone network provider based in the U.S.A. It provides a variety of deals for existing and potential customers, including monthly payments, Pay-As-You-Go and a daily rate. It also provides home telephone services. Boost say, that you are not allowed to have more than one phone number on your account, so if you are wanting to get rid of your current number for whatever reason, you will have to do an online swap. This service will be charged at a rate of $5 for every swap you do. However, to change your Boost mobile phone number, you will need to log in to your online Boost account. To do this, you will need to type in your Boost mobile phone number into the box that asks for your mobile phone number on the Boost website, which is found at 'boostmobile.com'. Next, you must type in your password. If you have forgotten your password, you can have a new password sent to your e-mail address. Once you have successfully logged in to your account, there will be an option to change your mobile phone number. Despite wanting to do it online, the best policy would to phone them up so that the person who is on the customer services phone, can answer any questions you have (on how long it will take to activate, how to pay for $5, etc.). The phone number for Boost customer services is 1-866-402-7366 and is open from 4am PST to 9pm PST, and that is available to Boost customers and potential customers, seven days a week.

All of Boost Mobile’s cell phones are sold locked to their network which means it won’t work with another carrier until you unlock it. Unlocking your phone through Boost Mobile is free, while third party unlock companies will charge you. This guide will walk you through how to unlock your Boost Mobile phone step by step, so you can take your phone wherever you want.

How to Unlock Your Boost Mobile Phone

  • Make sure you’ve used your phone for at least 12 months with Boost Mobile.
  • Make sure a payment has been made within the last 90 days of that 12-month activation anniversary.
  • Contact Boost Mobile customer service by calling 1-888-BOOST-4U.
  • Follow their instructions to unlock your phone.

Let’s Talk Tip: This list only applies to current Boost Mobile customers. If you’re a former customer or bought a Boost phone from a third party, your instructions are a little different, and slightly more complicated.

Boost Mobile’s Unlocking Policy

Boost Mobile has a relatively straightforward unlocking policy for current customers, so have no fear, you will be able to boost off to another carrier. You simply need to meet some eligibility requirements then contact Boost customer service for unlocking instructions.

Once your phone is unlocked, it is important to know that your phone may not be compatible with your preferred carrier. So before you make the jump, check to make sure it’s possible to BYOP (bring your own phone).

When CDMA and GSM technology was first created, phones on either platform couldn’t switch to the other. But with new updates, MOST phones can now be used on all networks regardless of their GSM or CDMA tech.

In general, most newer phones are cross-compatible across all carriers, so you probably won’t run into any problems. However, older phones from Sprint and Verizon only work with each other because they use the same CDMA technology. Older phones on AT&T or T-Mobile are only compatible with each other because they use GSM technology.

Switch Carriers and Bring Your Own Phone

Let’s Talk Tip: Carriers like Boost Mobile have an online phone compatibility checker that makes it easy for you to check if your phone will work on their network.

Boost Eligibility Requirements to Unlock a Phone

If you want to unlock your phone, be ready to do some work because Boost Mobile does not, and will not, notify you when you’re eligible—you have to be aware of the eligibility requirements and figure them out yourself. Luckily, we’re here to help and found the criteria for you:

  • Make sure you’ve used your phone for at least 12 months with Boost Mobile.
  • Make sure a payment has been made within the last 90 days of that 12-month activation anniversary.
  • Your phone needs to be SIM unlock capable (most phones are).
  • Your phone can’t be reported lost or stolen.
  • Your Boost Mobile account is in good standing (i.e., no unpaid bills).
  • Your phone is from Boost Mobile (Boost can only unlock their own phones/devices).

The most important requirement is that you’ve used your phone for at least 12 months with Boost Mobile

Unlocking Your Phone – Military Requirements

If you’re in the military, Boost Mobile will unlock your phone at your request with proof of deployment. The only eligibility requirement you don’t need to meet is the minimum amount of time you need to use your phone with Boost. Each number associated with your military account can unlock up to two devices per year.

Unlocking Your Phone – Current Boost Customers

If you’re a current Boost Mobile customer and meet the requirements above, the unlocking process is simple:

  1. Call Boost customer service
  2. Get the unlock code
  3. Input said code.

The whole process shouldn’t take more than one day if you’re on a BoostUP! installment plan. If not, unlocking your phone could take up to two days. To help the process go smoothly, there are a few things you can do:

  • Keep your SIM card in the phone (removing or replacing the SIM card will cause the unlock request to fail).
  • Make sure your phone is turned on and connected to the Boost Mobile network, or connected to a WiFi network the whole time.

If you’re a former customer, or a person who bought a Boost Mobile phone from a previous customer, the process can be a little more confusing and Boost requires a few extra steps.

Unlocking Your Phone – Non-Boost Customers

It’s important to note you CAN unlock a Boost Mobile phone even if you’re not currently (or have never been) a Boost customer, but the process to get there is a little tedious. To unlock your Boost Mobile phone you’ll need:

  • The Boost Mobile phone number or account number last associated with the phone.

OR

  • If you don’t have that, you will need to contact the person whom you bought the phone from and get that info from them.

If you can’t do either of these things, then Boost will not unlock your device and you’ll have to use it on Boost Mobile’s network for the required amount of time before you try unlocking it again.

Let’s Talk Tip: Check with Boost Mobile before you buy a Boost phone from a third party. They will be able to tell you if the phone is unlocked, or if it’s eligible. If you do this, you won’t have to worry about eligibility requirements or be shocked if the phone can’t be unlocked.

Boost Mobile is offering a way to lower your cell phone bill to just $10 a month. That’s the starting price for one of the smartphone data plans that debuted in 2020.

But is Boost really worth the savings? There are some big changes that you’ll want to consider.

What Is Boost Mobile? Here’s What You Need to Know!

In this article, I’ll review those changes and everything you need to know if you’re thinking about switching to Boost Mobile. Let’s get started!

Table of Contents:

1. Network Coverage

Boost Mobile was previously owned by Sprint and used its network, but now customers have access to T-Mobile’s network.

Here’s why: Dish Network acquired Boost Mobile as part of the Sprint and T-Mobile merger. The deal gave Dish access to T-Mobile’s nationwide network for seven years.

During those seven years, Dish is expected to build its own standalone 5G network.

But for now, Boost Mobile customers will use T-Mobile’s network. So if you’re thinking about switching, make sure that Liberty university online library offers strong coverage where you live, work and travel.

Enter your address on Boost Mobile’s website to confirm network coverage.

2. Plans and Pricing

Boost Mobile offers a number of affordable prepaid plans with both unlimited and fixed data options.

Shortly after Dish acquired Boost Mobile, it launched five new plans under $50. The best deals are for light data users. There are options for $10, $15 and $25 per month. Taxes and fees are included.

Here are the five prepaid plans that are available as of this writing:

  • $10 for 1GB of high-speed data (capped)
  • $15 for 2GB of high-speed data (capped)
  • $25 for 5GB of high-speed data (capped)
  • $35 for 10GB of high-speed data (capped)
  • $45 for 15GB of high-speed data, then 2G speeds

Boost Mobile Plans

The $45 a month plan is unlike the others. Boost refers to this as the “Shrink It” plan because the monthly price drops to $35 after six on-time payments.

All five plans include unlimited talk and text, plus a fixed amount of data. They can be stacked to create a family plan.

Boost Mobile’s unlimited plans start at $50 a month for a single line. That’s competitive, but not an extraordinary deal. Pricing for the unlimited plans improves with multiple lines — like two lines for $80 a month.

3. Phone Selection

Boost Mobile gives customers the option to bring an existing device or purchase a boost mobile account change phone number one.

If you want to keep your phone, it must be unlocked. Just enter the device ID on Boost Mobile’s website to make sure that it’s compatible with the network.

For customers who want to buy a new phone, Boost has boost mobile account change phone number of options for purchase in-store and online.

More than two dozen phones were for sale when I last checked Boost Mobile’s website. They included 10 phones under $100 and 12 phones over $500.

Many devices were on sale. You can check the deals page for the latest offers.

4. Customer Service

Boost Mobile has more options for customer service than many low-cost cell phone service providers.

If you need to contact Boost Mobile by phone, the number is 1-866-402-7366. Live chat is also available. You can also search Boost’s website for a store location near you.

5. Boost Mobile vs. T-Mobile Connect

For light data users, Boost Mobile’s $10, $15 and $25 plans are some of the cheapest around. When I first saw the plans, they reminded me of T-Mobile Connect’s prepaid plans.

The table below compares the plans and pricing as of November 2020:

Final Thoughts

If you’re a light data user who doesn’t mind monitoring your usage, Boost Mobile’s cheapest plans offer a great way to lower your cell phone bill. It’s hard to beat $10 a month!

And since Boost now has access to T-Mobile’s network, its coverage map is looking better than ever before.
