The shopping season this year might be shorter, but retailers are offering a variety of deals in the weeks leading up to Black Friday that will culminate in major sales on one of the biggest shopping day of the year.
At the Eastridge Mall in Gastonia, general manager Stephen Stout doesn't expect much change.
"Of course, this year, the way the calendar falls, it will be I think the second shortest shopping season that we can have since its (the Friday after Thanksgiving) on the 26th, and that's a late date," he said. "So we're not going to have as many days as we've had in the past."
Eastridge Mall will be closed Thanksgiving Day. The mall will open at 8 a.m. on Black Friday and stay open until 9 p.m.
In the past, Stout said, Belk has opened at 4 p.m. on Thanksgiving, but that store will be closed on the holiday as well.
"That was just a corporate decision made by Belk," Stout said.
Stout said there may be some lines outside stores this year. Since the mall reopened on May 8, 2020, sales have been stronger than in years past, "so we hope to see that trend continue."
Last year, despite the pandemic, people showed up to shop for the holidays.
"We certainly hope that remains the same as we enter into the holiday season," he said.
Other major retailers have been rolling out sales since the beginning of November.
Walmart in particular is for the second time offering "Black Friday Deals for Days," a branded multi-week shopping event that highlights holiday deals.
Starting on Wednesday, Walmart was offering a Blackstone 22-inch griddle for $117, an HP i3 laptop for $279, and a Shark EZ robot vacuum for $288.
Other early Black Friday deals include a $69 Ninja air fryer, a 55-inch TCL Smart 4K television for $298, and a $298 trampoline.
Walmart says the store will wrap up with a third event, but the company has not released details, nor has it publicized its hours for Black Friday.
At Target, the company was advertising a Power XL 5-quart air fryer for $59.99, Beats Solo wireless headphones for $99.99, and a Roku streaming stick for $29.99, among other things.
The Gastonia Target store will be closed on Thanksgiving and will be open on Black Friday from 7 a.m. until 10 p.m.
Kohls also will be closed on Thanksgiving, and the stores will open at 5 a.m. on Black Friday. Black Friday deals start at Kohls on Nov. 21.
Best Buy, which will also be closed on Thanksgiving, is advertising a Dell gaming monitor for $179.99, Jabra noise-canceling earbuds for $149.99, a television wall mount for $89.99, and more.
The company has can i pay my kohls bill at the store that customers use the online store locator to check the store's Black Friday hours.
The Kohl's Black Friday Deals Worth Your Time
Here's the deal
Down to $60 in the champagne finish with code ENJOY15 and store pickup, this is within $10 of the best price we've ever seen on this blender. Normally selling for around $80, this is a great discount for the NutriBullet Pro 900 Series, the top pick in our guide to the best personal blender. If you want to the ease and convenience of a personal blender, this model has the power to tackle just about any job. This deal isn't likely to last long and is available with store pickup from Kohl's.
Update: Up an additional $10. If you don’t mind side-by-side photos the Aura Carver has all the software features of our top digital photo frame pick, but instead of physically rotating to show both landscape and portrait modes, it sits on landscape mode only. To balance this, the Carver places two portrait-mode photos side by side when it shows them, or shows a landscape photo full-screen. This frame also has the same touch bar on the top as the Aura Mason, and the side-by-side photos looked nice on the large screen.
Kohl’s Big One Supersoft Plush Throw was by far the most popular fleece blanket with our kid and dog testers during our tests in 2019. It's been consistently well-stocked in-store and online since we first tested it (and all throughout the pandemic), and at 60" x 72", it's more generously sized than most throws we've tried. It's so cheap with Kohl's perpetual sales and down to just $9 with free 1st grade books ENJOY15, you'll probably want to grab some for a few people in your life (like kids, teens, or college students). Make sure to choose store pickup to avoid shipping fees on orders less than $75.
Matching the previous lowest price, this is a nice deal for the Amazon Echo 4th Gen, our top pick for best Alexa smart speaker. With Alexa, it can do just about everything a good smart speaker can do, including playing music, answering questions, controlling your smart-home devices, as well as being able to buy stuff from Amazon. It's slightly larger (and a different shape) than the original Echo, but the larger, spherical size allows for a better speaker with a big volume boost and improved soundstage.
A smart speaker option we like for Google users, the Nest Audio provides a louder and more bass-filled audio experience, which we think is on par with that of the Echo (though we do prefer Amazon's ecosystem overall). Plus, you can configure two of these speakers together as a stereo pair via the app or arrange them throughout your home to create a multi-room sound system.
Our upcoming top pick for the best fitness tracker, the Charge 5 is a great way to monitor both your active time and your sleep cycles. The Fitbit series of workout bands are comfortable to wear, easy to use, and have a long-lasting battery life. The Charge 5 will accurately track your exercise metrics and link to a fitness community to share your sessions and meet your goals. This deal matches the best price we've seen for the newest model and is only the second deal we've posted.
